Arizona baby born without eyes

An Arizona couple experienced the shock of a lifetime after finding out their baby was born without eyes. When baby Richie Lopez was born, hospital staff thought his face was swollen.However, after an MRI test, they found out that he wasn’t opening his eyes because his eye sockets were completely empty. Doctors performed surgery to implant expanders in his sockets, which would allow them to grow and someday hold prosthetic eyes.But for now, Richie uses special toys and is enrolled in developmental programs. He does have an optic nerve, so his parents are hopeful that he’ll one day be able to see.
