Manchester United earned a crucial three points in the race for the UEFA Champions League on Wednesday night, as they defeated Burnley 3-1 at Old Trafford.

The victory, and Southampton's draw at home to West Ham United, allowed the Red Devils to vault into third place in the English Premier League table.

Louis van Gaal's side are now one point ahead of Saints and two ahead of Arsenal in the congested battle for third and fourth place.
